Windows Vista to Embrace Live Services

In Niall Kennedy's post, linked below, he describes Live.com as the new default home page for Windows Vista and IE7. MSN.com currently receives a huge amount of traffic as the default home page in Windows, and a shift away from this, if it bears out, will mark a turning point away from MSN to Windows Live, pushing Windows Live Search at the expense of MSN ad revenue. It's one of many new ways that Windows Vista will embrace Windows Live Services. Windows Live Alerts, Live.com gadgets, integrated search, Messenger and Mail contact integration, and spyware detection are on a short list of many ways, most of them not yet public, that Vista will be closely tied to Windows Live.
