More Home.Live.com goodness

From the “woah, Microsoft is UNSTOPPABLE” category, Chris just noticed that the color of the (too large??) header turns colors with the changing time of the day.  Here in sunny Seattle we’re still in the light blue zone:

WindowClipping (3)

(while we’re here, note the inclusion of Calendar in the drop down box.  Right now it links to Hotmail, but we’ll keep clicking and keep hoping!)

…while later at night in London, the Home page has turned a darker blue:

Homepage dark

This is so exciting!  I can’t wait to see what happens in the morning!

I haven’t seen any changes yet on Live.com. Where are you going to see this?

  • sboots

You crack me up, Kip. It’s dark here in NJ, too. :-) You think my page will have raindrops on it tomorrow?

  • chetblong

Hey, the search bar on home.live.com has been updated, it now has links to Hotmail, Spaces, and OneCare.

  • Alber1690

    Whoa, so cool!

    @JohnCz: It’s home.live.com only so far…
@Chetblong: Yeah, I noticed that too, but some lead to dead ends. Like Hotmail for me…

  • JohnCz

    whoops..thanks

Will this home.Live.com eventually replace http://www.Live.com? If not, I think its going to cause confusion.

Wonder if this means Windows Live Calendar will launch soon… I wonder if Microsoft are working on a a competitor against Google Reader… or ever have plans to release a Windows Live Reader

  • jamiet

What’s the betting that the “too large header” eventually gets filled with ads?

@jamiet: I agree, if there’s a large banner ad, I bet most people will be readily disappointed.

Windows Live Home seems interesting at least. Though I’m not sure I’m ready for that type of stuff. We’ll see.

  • Khristopher

that is very cool! is it based on time or weather conditions though?

  • Jesper

    This is very nice IMHO.

  • BV2312

It’s good but they need to improve the dropdown menu structure.. for example while your at home.live.com you can skydrive but when you use the drop down menu at skydrive there is no ‘home’ shortcut which is wierd! they also have the same problem in WL V.1 inconsistancy on the drop down structure!

    Hi Kip :)

Even the weather image changes with the kind of weather it is in your location (sunny, cloudy, rain etc.), just like the colour changes for day and night…
I’m impressed already and not in the least because it recognises my location where as no other weather service ever does!

  • Alex

If you set your market to en/US a Wire-link will show, right below… hmmm….

  • Meikle

I see spaces, onecare, home and skydrive all have the same layout for the drop down menu and also the same links next to search (home, hotmail, spaces for me). Are the pages getting the data from the same source (ie if they decide to add a calendar link next to the search bar every page will receive it)?

  • Project

Google have been doing this for a while with iGoogle.

  • Chris

Alex the Wire link is a new blog, nothing more unfortunately.

  • thaman04

    LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! :)

The banner is not too big in my opinion.. it’s fine to me.

Question how come I don’t see the weather in the left top like you guys do? I don’t see my picture or name on the right. :(

  • StefVision

    nice nice

i love the windows live service <33

thanks for infos, i update it too at my space for german people lol xD

  • vipwoody

iGoogle has already done that, with time the color changes according to the weather and stuff.

  • Chris

thaman04 – did you sign in with your Windows Live ID?

  • wargarurumon

    they removed the weather thing

now that’s really bad i liked that feature

  • wargarurumon

oh i just noticed it got back

    don’t know how,
