Office Live Workspaces beta begins

OfficeLiveMicrosoft announced today that it is rolling out entry into the beta of Office Live Workspaces, a new service that will allow document storage in the cloud from within Office applications.  You can sign up for the beta, and then download and install a plug-in to Office to be able to access a menu to be able to open and save Office documents to cloud based storage.

While access has not appeared for me here yet, US based customers who signed up for the beta should be getting accepted in to the program shortly, we’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, David Berlind at ZDNet has posted a video walkthrough with Kirk Gregerson, who we interviewed in October.

Update: I’m in. It just popped up as an option in my office live main page, and I signed up through that. :)

Signed up! Really cool. Just doing up a video with my first impressions and should have online on my blog by tomorrow.

BTW I am based in Australia.

    Cheers!

I’m in too; I think Office Live users are getting priority. Also, I tried my MSN Premium account; tip: it’s probably going to be another one of those “it’s not ready for Premium users yet, so please wait eternally” deals, so just sign up with a Hotmail or Live account, especially if it’s associated with an Office Live account.

I’m in; seems really cool, although the add-in isn’t really working for me. Oh well. Tons of potential. I only wish they had a Skydrive workspace with everything you’ve uploaded to Skydrive. Drag + drog upload would also be nice.
