"I'm a PC because I'm really picky"

Another commercial, another sly slam at Apple.  In the latest “I’m a PC” commercial, Giampaolo goes on his own hunt for a laptop.  We’ll leave it for Todd Bishop to dig up the dirt on this guy, for now, just enjoy:

    Weird.

“Really picky”, to me, has more negative than positive connotations.

    Just a first impression.

Other than that, the advert didn’t really tell me much. Except that he has really big hands.

I’m going to a Mac website now to watch them whine. This should be entertaining.

Eh…it sends the message I guess. But they could have used something a bit more softer than “I’m really picky.” Something that embraces the individuality and customizability of PCs like “because I’m my own me” or something to that effect.

    Macs are sexy, damn sexy!

Macs may be sexy but I will never get a computer that can’t be customized or upgraded. If you want a better computer, with macs you have to spend a couple thousand on a new one.

I think it does a good job of portraying the over-arching difference between the two, though: PC’s appeal to a much wider range of computing needs, both economically and functionally.

I think Apple is great at their niche, but it irritates me to no end how they attack Microsoft, playing on the “we’re cool” gig constantly. Apple is much more proprietary and exclusive, and has made it seem “cool” – which is ironic given today’s push towards openness. PCs are much more flexible and compatible – and have to deal with being compatible with so many different factors.
