Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone supports WLM contacts

yhoomsgr If you use the Yahoo! Messenger iPhone app, a new version released yesterday now supports the ability to chat with your Windows Live contacts, according to a  post on the Yahoo! Messenger Blog dated April 4th.

Now when you’re on your iPhone, your Windows Live friends will be able to see when you’re online, and send and receive messages from them. You can also add new Windows Live friends right from the app.

You should be prompted to update your Yahoo! Messenger iPhone app through iTunes, or you can download the app through iTunes.

(thanks, pp2!)

I wonder if the Yahoo! app has ads. If so, Microsoft is really missing the boat. This may encourage Windows Live users with iPhones to get Yahoo! accounts so they can easily chat with their Messenger friends, which in turn would encourage them to try out Yahoo! stuff which they might like, and may switch to, further profiting Yahoo!.

If Bing team can release a nice iPhone app, why not Micorosft? Expanding to other platforms is a good thing, especially when the iPhone version of the Bing app pretty much surpasses Microsoft’s own Bing app on Windows Mobile and Windows Phone 7…
