Window shopping with Bing

This week Bing shopping got some updates. On the left side there’s a list of product categories, which you can click to go to the part of the “catalogue” to find the product you are looking for.

All very visual, like “window shopping.” Once you found what you are looking for, Bing shopping is also providing info like where to buy, product specifications, cashback percentage and user reviews, all on one page. The user review part has been revamped at that! You can filter on ratings, there’s scorecards…

Say what? Rather see that explained in a video? Stefan does a great job, you can find his demo video and more over on the Bing Search Blog.

Would be nice if could get there search results down right. A search for “Zune HD” showed TWO listings for the SAME Zune HD 16GB, just oddly with different amount of reviews, and number of stores available. I even saw Sony Walkmans on the first page of results with more Zune HD stuff after it. Pretty sad.

It’s not really good window shopping, if it doesn’t come with more de facto product images and maybe videos. Plus some more useful info. like the official site for this product, maybe discussion boards, etc. “Expert” reviews from popular tech sites/weblogs should be compiled and separated from regular user reviews. Suggested accessories or related products would be nice.

Ability to post your own review would be nice, and maybe as an option, you could fill in your own scorecard (with more categories!) so scorecard could be even more useful.

Bing Shopping is nice to find deals, and maybe some interesting reviews/specs, but it’s got a ways to go. I kinda hope to see it become a REAL one-stop shopping destination.
