Facebook just launched new Community pages. From the Facebook Blog:
Community Pages are a new type of Facebook Page dedicated to a topic or experience that is owned collectively by the community connected to it. Just like official Pages for businesses, organizations and public figures, Community Pages let you connect with others who share similar interests and experiences.
On each Community Page, you’ll be able to learn more about a topic or an experience—whether it’s cooking or learning a new language—and see what your friends and others in the Facebook community are saying about this topic. Community Pages are still in beta…
Beta eh, maybe that’s why I don’t see any access/link to these new pages on Facebook myself? Or will they be part of the current pages? The blog post doesn’t say… Anyways, Chris Pendleton found that, besides showing Wikipedia information, they also integrate the Bing Maps Platform if there is a map for a Community Page. For example on the Johannesburg, Gauteng Community Page:
You can navigate the Bing map right from within that Facebook page, just click and go. Nice!
