So I take photo Gallery is keeping that ugly white UI? or will there be a color option like found in office?

    • Damaster – LiveSide.net

Hmm….I think that’s more of a problem with the way the video screencast was captured, over-contrast i reckon. I’m pretty sure the actual ribbon is in that light-blue colour similar to what you’ve been seeing in Windows 7 (such as Paint or WordPad) – afterall, it does use the Windows Ribbon Framework (Scenic UI).

I wonder what do people expect from free software, awesome features in Live Essentials

    • Chris

If its from Microsoft I EXPECT

    • Chris

Well if its from Microsoft I EXPECT it to be stable and have a great UI.

You have a lot to learn my friend.

      • keoz

its stable and it has great UI, that you don’t like it is something else, if you want to make a software for your likes then you PAY for it, that’s what you should learn “friend”, thankfully MS is giving it for free
        Dismissed

        • Chris

How about you re read what I worte little kid and show respect. I am older then you

          • keoz

Haha you are now replying to every post I have ever written in other discussions??? did I got you upset? Chris you are a pathetic high school child :) I’m done with you, with all respect lol

          • Chris

I’m 20. Been out of “high school” for years.

Besides, you might be a kid after all. Since you went around calling everyone an idiot. that right there is not being mature.

          • Revolutions

Hah, I actually _am_ a high school student, and your discussion here still sounds stupid to me. Reminds me of freshmen :D.

No, but you both have some truth in your

          • Chris

Well if you are a high school student then you shouldnt really be talking. Its just annoying we get idiots who come on with some smart ass remark. most of the time they are younger.

          • Revolutions

So young people can’t make smart remarks but adults can make stupid ones? I mean, everything you and keoz were talking about was useless and unimportant. You just tried to insult each other, and failed along with it. Yes, I’m a high school student. So?

          • Revolutions

that was supposed to go on to say:
“truth in your arguments. Chris, it’s a free software. You can’t get what you want all the time. Keoz, Microsoft does get some money, indirectly of course, through the software. They should, if they wish to expand their base, make their software appealing. Users have every right to complain.

            Personally, I love the UI.

          • Chris

Seems everyone got their heads in the clouds.

I LOVE the ribbion. BUT what I was saying is in the first video it shows an ugly white ribbon. THAT is what I was complaining about. (the WHITE part) before the little kid came on running his mouth.

            I’m done here

          • Revolutions

:P I was remarking rather on criticizing “free” software in general. Little kid? At least I can make one comment without attempting a [lame] insult at someone who disagrees with me.

        • Sunshine – LiveSide.net

To ALL who were involved in the comment fight I just removed: While arguing is healthy, namecalling and the assumptions and accusations I’ve seen here are not. Leave that at the door guys and keep this a friendly place. Thank you.

I hope they put a “Back to Gallery” button on every tab instead of on every alternate tab. I need to be able to view my full library at any time. For apps that don’t have tons and tons of functions, the Ribbon is counterintuitive and ends up dividing the commands across tabs and users require to constantly switch tabs. Wish they had an option to activate a tab upon mouse hover instead of mouse click.

    • Chris

Agreed, or at the very least a single easy to access location outside the tab.

I’m not a big fan of the ribbon either. However, since WLPG will have a standard ribbon interface, you can just add any command to the Quick Access Toolbar above the ribbon, and it’ll always be accessible in one place.

  • SDreamer

I gotta agree to some comments to a point. The UI is kinda blinding, so much white on it. I like the ribbon interface and all, it really breaks down the tools by category. But function wise, I still can’t believe this is free software. I think Microsoft should throw in Office 2010 Starter bundled with this, and call it Office Essentials.

  • Chris

It is. I guess some people shouldnt use free software untill they can grasp on what exactly that means now a days and whom makes it,

  • helmet0628

One feature i really miss is every tag listed on the left below the folders. I think they should still keep the ribbon with the find feature but bring back the tag list.

    • Asrialys

The Tags are now found in a drop-down menu in the Ribbon. I actually prefer this, as I use many tags and found it inconvenient to scroll up and down between tags and folders.

  • Mario Albertico

They need to bring Kylie back and make some Photo Fuse ads; that feature looks amazing.

On a side note, what’s with this new look of the Windows logo, a kind of a matte, pastel color feel?

    • Chris

      That would be neat.

I think the logo might be the start of a new “windows live” logo. Perhaps the orange ribbon found on the hotmail icon may be added to this?

Yes, I noticed the logo change as well. It’s possible it’s just for these video previews; if not, then it’s quite unexpected. It’s definitely elementary, which reinforces the word “essential.”
