Wave 4 Web services go live!

At least some of the new Wave 4 web services are now live, both here in the US and in Australia, at least:

Apparently Hotmail hasn’t made the switch yet, but you should be able to get to Wave 4 goodness from www.home.live.com, and access all of the new Office Web Apps, including OneNote, and Profile, Groups, Spaces, and SkyDrive.  We’ll have lots more soon, of course, but wanted to get a quick post up to let you know to go and check it out!

    Looks like the switchover is still happening, some things work and then they don’t, etc. Be patient if everything isn’t working for you :)

    Fyi, if you are creating a new document using Office Web Apps…make sure you switch to the SkyDrive folder that you ultimately want the Office document stored first and use the “New” menu above the folder/file list instead of the menu items in the Office menu. If you do it this way, you can move files from folder to folder. Wave 4 is still being rolled out and in some ways still beta, but for now the main Office menu creates documents in the “root” folder and the “move” option is not available.

    I’d say it’s about to be introduced in de-de (Germany), too, though there is a lot of waiting and error messages involved. Guess it’ll be better tomorrow.

    Windows Live (Windows Live Wave 4 web services excluding Hotmail)

    But when is Hotmail going to ever swap overnight to all its users but if i bet they have turn the key to set migration into motion i would have odds in favor

      It’s going to take Hotmail a while to roll out. I remember how the experience was for Wave 3. If I rememebr they are suppose to start rolling the update for Hotmail next week…I think. They always do them seperate.

      Sync wil be part of Windows Live Essentials which has been rumoured to roll out at the end of June or mid July.

    As of 9PM PST, devices.live.com now redirects to Windows Live Sync (used to redirect to Skydrive)

    I think it would have been good if they included a few more things under the Windows Live drop down box. Profiles would have been a good thing to put in.

        Any my rant continues. How come when I update my SkyDrive with photos it posts on my Facebook profile 3, 4, sometimes even 5 times!

        My friends want to know that I have updated my SkyDrive with photos. Not 5 posts of the same thing for crying out loud!

    My question for everyone on here is did anyone try setting their privacy controls? Everytime that I go to set my privacy controls I get an error screen when I try to save them. Right now they are stuck and my friends can not post messages on my profile page or leave comments on my daily status because of the private controls not working.

      This is an issue we are working on fixing right now. To work around the problem, make sure you have removed yourself from your messenger buddy list and hit save on the privacy screen again.

    Privacy controls are now working! Good stuff. Hm, my “Friends” and “Some Friends” list seem the same. Not sure of the difference…
