Last night we posted a new UI for Bing.com/explore, which weirdly enough has reverted back to the old style, at least for now. Here’s what we saw last night:
If you notice, there are two new categories that show up that aren’t on the old (current?) list: Finance, and Universities. Both of these new categories are live, though, even though they’re not on the list:
Looking for a quick glance on what’s happening in the financial world? Bing.com/Finance provides a scrolling stock ticker, headline financial news, an up to date stock market graph, and more, all on the home page. From there, you can dive more deeply into individual stocks, getting lots of info:
The Stocks Screener, a Silverlight application, is “Unavailable at Present”, but everything else seems to be working, you can check it out at www.bing.com/finance.
If you’re looking for info on US Universities, search on a school (like USC), and click on “Facts”, and you’ll get a nice breakdown of info provided by (at least in some cases) by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), U.S. Department of Education Institute of Education Sciences:
Like the Bing.com/Entertainment updates, these look to be US only for now.
