Bing promotes iPhone in latest video

So what IS up with the Bing/iPhone lovefest, anyway?  In this latest video, published today on YouTube (note: so Microsoft promotes 2 competitors with one fell swoop, nice!), this little video vignette follows an iPhone user around as he uses Bing for iPhone:

Bing Mobile: Pieces of Memory

Now granted, there are a LOT more iPhones around than Windows Phones, and every one that uses Bing instead of Google is plus one for Microsoft, but still….

I would imagine because Bing is a separate part of Microsoft from Windows Mobile, they care about getting as many users as possible using their services. I don’t understand why people always sound surprised when they show or bring stuff out for iPhone considering the amount of iPhone users there are worldwide. Makes a lot of sense to me!

Should they even have bothered developing WP7 then, since it appears MS employees only want to use the iphone? Better bing client, better Hotmail activesync support, better MSN client – MS has shown better support for a competitor than for their own product. First Windows Mobile, now Windows Phone 7. And they wonder why they are failing with most of their consumer ventures.

WOW! I was just thinking about having a change of mind this year and getting a Windows Phone 7. Seeing that Microsoft is still putting better applications out for the iPhone instead of their own phone, I guess I will look into getting an iPhone this year. They seem to like pushing their customers in that direction, so away we go.

Well, to be fair, Windows Phone does have Bing built in, so pretty much everything you see in the Bing iPhone app you get in WP7. Still, shouldn’t there be some “we do it better” marketing?

I hope they will do update on WinPh7 for this kind of things soon. There is no photo search or the street horizontal side view on WP7 yet.

Did you where those 500000 songs they gave away came from? Not Zune it was Amazon. They app is better in the iPhone than WP7. Seems to be a big problem in MSFT when they do not work as a TEAM.

They got this just right. I’m an iPhone and mac user, if this was an advert for Windows phone 7 I’d just tune out, skip over it, loose total interest. The fact its running on an iPhone caught my attention. I might now just try it out, rather than forget what the advert was even for 10 seconds later like all the other WP7 ads i’ve seen. For someone who isn’t a dedicated microsoftie this advert makes sense.

I believe the Bing team is trying to achieve what they just did with you. I see it as a very good strategy.
