Create a flash mob with Windows Live + Windows Phone 7

That’s exactly what Microsoft’s latest commercial is about – a documentary about the making of a recent flash mob in Seattle. In the two-minute video, it featured Microsoft’s most popular consumer brands, including Windows Live, Windows Phone 7, Video Kinect on Xbox 360, the upcoming Internet Explorer 9, as well as a Windows 7-based Dell Inspiron Duo hybrid tablet. Update: Thanks to WMPowerUser.com, there’s also another commercial called "Road trip to Mt. Hood", this time also featuring Bing. Check it out below:

How many Windows Live products did you see in the commercials?

It’s nice that they’re finally making better ads. You see a lot more product in these ads, some integration, and useful scenarios. Though they’re not always too common (who plays Xbox on a ski trip?). The animations, transititions, and colors and such are very lively and welcoming compared to the starkness of those Apple ads.

I just would like them to not go too far on the “hipster” tangent. You know, the wacky hipsters like in the Kin ads, where there’s a bunch of young yuppies wearing strange clothes, doing strange stuff and whatnot. That’s not what most young people are like, and we definitely do not look towards so-called hipsters as a way to follow a trend. Those people, imho, try so hard to get out of the norm they make their own class of people. Not the image Microsoft should be projecting.

It’s nice to see these ads, and I agree with quikboy – this is as far down the “hipster” road as they need to go. Keep showing stuff like this, and other practical every-day situations, with this quality type of production, and they’ll go a long way, imho.
