Live Search comes to Facebook with custom search page

Mashable just spotted the new implementation of Live Search integrated into Facebook.  According to Mashable:

The implementation is fairly straightforward: in the search box on the top right of Facebook, which is also used for quick access to your friends’ profiles and intrasite search, there is now an option to “Search the Web,” which in turn triggers a query of Microsoft Live Search. Results then display within a custom interface designed for Facebook.

Live Mail gets update to M8

Today's Live Mail update features numerous UI and userability enhancements, but currently is only available to users on selected server bays. The update also includes:

  • “Send Email As” feature that allows users to send mail from other email addresses.
  • More contact viewing options
  • A contacts importer

Some of you may remember that the previous updates have not been the smoothest, so now they will be rolling out the new features to all users over several weeks.

Pictures tell a thousand words, so check out the update for yourself. As always, if you want to experience the update yourself, you can change the url of your Live Mail account to use bay 117 (http://by117w.bay117.mail.live.com). One thing I've noticed for free accounts is that the Flare header is slightly obscured due to the banner advertising, something you probably won't see in the PR or marketing pictures when Mail finally launches.

I had always kind of assumed that M8 would be the "released" Live mail.  I'm guessing this is not the case?

kmturner and hoffman, you are both partially correct. MSBLOG.org says "Well we’re nearly there - Live Mail is very nearly ready to be released (set for the end of October/start of November) and with that comes the brand new live.com, live.co.uk (and other locales supported) and windowslive.com addresses for people to use." What we are seeing in M8 is what will be released at the end of the month, the only reason it isnt final right now is the mail team wanted to prevent any mass migration problems.

I wonder... is the 117 bay a tribute to Halo?

This is great. It is much much faster than m7. It takes me about 2 seconds to get it loaded, rather than 15+ seconds before.

In relation to @live.com or @windowsmail.com or @windowslive.com? When that he goes to leave these e-mails for the remaining portion the world?

I live in Brazil and until today I did not obtain to see @live.com for set free Brazil.
