First WL News from CES: WL Developer Platform revamped

Mary Jo Foley reports from CES that several key changes have taken place in the Windows Live developers platform.  According to Scott Swanson, director of platform planning for WL, Windows Live API's (application programming interfaces) will fall into two main categories; infrastructure APIs (identity, relationship, storage, communications, payment/points, advertising, and domain), and application services API's (IM/VOIP, search, Spaces, mapping, mail/calendar, and classified).  In addition, adCenter will be an underlying layer to these APIs, and atop them a common application framework.

Mary Jo goes on to say how these changes are different from the way the Windows Live platform has been described in the past, and that it may take a couple of years "to get all this stuff out", according to Swanson.
