Windows Live Hotmail Wave 3: What’s New

Thanks to some great work by tophtucker and then BV2312, we managed to catch the new Windows Live Hotmail promotion site as soon as it popped up today. What we love about this site is that it has gone public with some of the changes for Windows Live Hotmail that are coming up in the Wave 3 beta. Here's the summary: Speed: The coming soon page says that for broadband users, the new Hotmail will be up to 70% faster on sign in (50% for non-broadband users). That's a pretty big claim, and one which should provide for some interesting testing once the beta is open to the public. Ever-increasing

Vista: Launched

For those of you living under a rock, Windows Vista has been officially released as of today, January 30th.  Bill Gates announced the launch of Vista at an event in New York City today, with the help of the band Angels and Airwaves.  We're still waiting to see what kind of Windows Live integration we can expect in the lifespan of Vista aside from the obvious shortcuts to Live products.

I personally have been running the final build of Vista for a couple of months on my laptop, pretty much without incident.  In my opinion, it is a big step up from XP and I would highly reccomend Vista to anyone who can run it on their machine.

Apparently, "The Wow Starts Now."  Hopefully the "Wow" starts now for Windows Live too.  Enjoy the launch day.

Grab the press release here.

Good luck to old MS. Hope Vista can keep the nasties at bay better than XP did.

Vista is technically amazing...but I foolishly  installed it on a laptop with only 512Mb of RAM.  Not a good idea.  You want 1Gb or preferably 2Gb to get the most out of it.  Having to go back to XP now... *cries*
