Blake Irving to resign?

We haven't heard much chatter on this but Mary-Jo Foley is reporting that Blake Irving is to resign. Whether he was ousted or is leaving for personal reasons is unknown, and unsurprisingly there is no comment from Microsoft yet.

So what would this mean for the end user? Well Blake Irving has no doubt been instrumental in his time at Microsoft, both with MSN and more recently with the establishing of Windows Live.  As Microsoft looks towards a second wave of services and applications, Blake's departure would allow the Online Services Group to receive some fresh ideas and enthusiasm from its leaders. Whether that's a good thing we'll have to see.
