Leaked Windows Live Messenger 8.5 turns up more surprises

For those of you who haven't seen it at mess.be, the leaked Messenger 8.5 build contained some hidden but basic Windows Live Folders integration/promotion. While the infobar isn't earth-shattering, remember this isn't a beta build so it'll be interesting to see if this changes come the official beta program.

And for those of you wondering where Windows Live Essentials and Dashboard went, there's a new Dashboard application installed to Windows Live\Installer. This directory also includes a new Shared Setup application with the name Windows Live Wave 2 Suite. ("Wave" refers to the group or wave of products to be released.)

Roll on those betas!

cool, I was wondering what happened to Windows Live Essentials\Dashboard..... But I heard when it comes out of BETA you have to pay for it? So you know, I wouldn't really pay for it.

Windows Live Essentials beta had been closed it's first phase of beta back in Oct. 20 last year, as mentioned in a WLEssentials' Newsletter. When I check the file version of the leaked WLMessenger 8.5 installation, it's WLSuite.exe !! Then i ran my WLEssentials (that's the third time :D) but it did not work -- no application can be loaded to the list. What's more, http://essentials.live.com/ is not available again. It's seems that Live Essentials beta has gone with the wind for quite a long time. Anyway, it's great to see that Windows Live Wave 2 Suite is on it's way now :)

mrx9898 - where did you hear that? Windows Live is mainly supported by advertising.

This is the service? Windows Live Essentials and Dashboard is not functioning. It will be that the site of the Windows Live Essentials and Dashboard alone functions for user of the English language?

Just got this from the recent beta application on connect:

"Hello from the Windows Live Beta Team,

Thank you for your interest in the Windows Live beta. Unfortunately due to the limited number of spaces for this beta we regret to inform you we could not accept you at this particular time. "

:-( First Microsoft beta I have ever been rejected from :-(

Guess I'll just have to spend more time reading the great articles on LiveSide ;-)
