Live Earth concerts this weekend

Just in case you missed it, the Live Earth concerts take place this weekend to highlight climate change. If you didn't manage to get a ticket, you can watch the concerts online at http://liveearth.msn.com/ both during the performances and afterwards. The website also has some useful information if you want to go "green", including unusual tips such as using bamboo for your wooden floors.

Let us know if you're heading to any of the events - I'm going to the London concert so here's hoping it doesn't rain!

I think it's pretty arrogant of us as a human race to think that WE can stop the earth's natural climate cycle.  When we came out of the last ice age, do you think all the ice melted because the dinosaurs were driving Hummers and using incandescent light bulbs??  The earth goes through NATURAL climate cycles.  It is up to US to adapt to IT - not make IT adapt to US!

I'm all for being more efficient.  That's one of the driving factors for innovation and invention and it's what has made us as humans so great.  If compact florescent bulbs are more efficient than other light bulbs and they save money, then the free market will drive their adoption.  But it's not up to governments to force this option by banning other forms of lighting...

Rather than focusing our efforts on stopping climate change, we should be more concerned with adapting our lifestyles to the changing climate.  After all, we didn't go extinct after the "global cooling" scare in the 70's...  If Florida is going to be under water in 50 years because some ice off of a few glaciers melted, then start buying land further inland now while it's cheap.  In 50 years it will be ocean front again!  :)

After all the rain we've been having in the UK since the golf stream has gone rogue, I think it will rain. Anyway, I'm already over conserned about climate change.

But the one in Rio is the only that's actually free! That would be awesome. Plus I thought Copacabana Beach was awesome? It would seem sad to miss a big free concert. Although it does sound like a place for terrorism to hit. Or anything bad.
