Windows Live Messenger – more new features expected

So now that everybody is using the leaked Wave 3 Milestone 1 build, (oops we can’t talk about that) and Microsoft employees are using the latest Milestone 2 daily builds, we thought it was time to just cut to the chase and look at what we expect to see come final release (or M3 for those keeping count). As always, this may change, so just think of it as a taster of what is to come.

Here’s what’s showing up for the first time in these pictures.

Microsoft plans to acquire MusiWave, French mobile music company

In a press release issued this morning, Microsoft announced its plans to acquire French mobile music company Musiwave.  The company is a leading provider of mobile music entertainment services to operators and media companies.  According to the press release:

The acquisition would bring Musiwave's relationships with music labels, device makers and mobile operators that deliver digital entertainment to consumers, together with Microsoft's Connected Entertainment technologies and services, including Windows Mobile, Zune, MSN and Windows Live. Should the transaction proceed, Musiwave would continue to operate out of its current headquarters in Paris.

MusiWave provides the technology behind the new T Mobile Music Jukebox, and provides technology, marketing, and content for mobile operators and music companies.

Possible wireless Zune music store in the future?

This has got to be WLM related. I bet it'll be the new phone service provider and perhaps, as Alber said, a wireless Zune music store.

If they wanted a mobile Zune store, they could if they wanted to.

Instead of putting WMP 11 in WinMo, they could have just put the Zune software instead. Or make both optional. So if Microsoft really wanted Zune on mobile, couldn't they have just update WinMo to support Zune software?

That would also make a WinMo device, practically a Zune itself. Without some of the cooler features.

This does sound interesting though.

Microsoft is just broadening its horizon. That's good for us music lovers, so many options with security.
