Comment Policy
We love comments. Spam, not so much. So in order to combat spam, we require that you log in to LiveSide to comment (while it may be a slight inconvenience, it has almost completely eliminated spam).
Joining LiveSide is easy, we'll send you an email with a temporary password, and once you've joined you can associate your account with your Windows Live ID to make signing in even easier.
We don't moderate comments, but we don't allow the usual stuff: bad language, links to unauthorized downloads, personal attacks, unsubstantiated rumors (ie: lies), etc.
We also do not allow spam links in comments, or excessive "backlinks", using our comment system to attempt to increase page rank elsewhere. We reserve the right to delete any account attempting to misuse links in comments.
We don't delete comments because we don't agree with them, otherwise.
(Hat tip to the Windows Live Team blog for the Comment Policy idea)
User Profile Policy
Recently we suffered an attack of new users whose sole purpose seemed to be filling their user profiles with spam links. To combat this, we now only allow a basic profile to be set (avatar, etc). If you already had a bio you now need to edit, email us at feedback *at* liveside *dot* net, and put Edit Bio in the subject.
We have also added "nofollow" tags to user generated links, meaning these links will not be indexed by search engines. Filling out a user profile or commenting on LiveSide will not increase your page rank elsewhere, sorry.
We're happy to have you promote yourselves, your sites, etc., up to a point, but we've had to protect ourselves. Sorry for the inconvenience.
