Microsoft's Gadget Gallery features non-Microsoft gadgets

Live Clock gadget by LiveGadgets.net

Microsoft's Gadget Gallery today made their "featured gadgets" section open to third party gadgets. Up to now, this space had been populated by Microsoft authored gadgets.

Bruce Kasrel, Senior Product Manager at Microsoft said "We are really energized  by contributions from the community and wanted to feature a few popular, interesting, and unusual 3rd party Web and Windows Sidebar Gadgets."

And what is the #1 featured gadget, you ask? Why it's nothing other than my very own Live Clock.

Congrats!  I've got one up there right now as well.  Hopefully this will be an ongoing project to highlight the best of the best of the Gadget community, and really help build some momentum around recognition of gadget contributions.

Todd, is that your "Hot or Not" gadget I see on the list as well? I love your gadgets! They always make me chuckle.

Bruce and the whole gallery team are serious in trying to make the best user experience possible for discovering new gadgets. They understand that it wouldn't be possible without help from the community.

And while the gallery itself has some issues (speed and "tag spam" being my hot buttons), they are aware of these and are actively correcting the issues. I look forward to seeing new gallery improvements rolled out, hopefully sometime in the near future.
