We want to know your thoughts on Windows Live Calendar - do you love the service or does it underwhelm?

Windows Live Calender - Yay or Nay?

  • Absolutely great - love it (25%)
  • Not bad, can see myself using this regularly once they've added some more features (40.6%)
  • Lots of work still to do (28.1%)
  • Too little, too late - I'll stick to Google Calender (6.3%)

So I think it's a great start!  I particularly like how easy it is to share with my friends!

I've been thinking that I'd like to see some Skydrive integration on calendar, for example when you click through to the detailed view on an event you could have one of the embedded iframes to download a specific skydrive file. Useful if you have meeting minutes from the previous meeting, a joiners pack for a holiday you are taking and need to print out in advance, etc etc.

And of course the non-trival desktop client and mobile clients :)

They are missing integration between Windows Live alert for their reminders service which is still available in MSN Calendar

I desperately needed a decent Calendar tied with Hotmail and Messenger since my production group has an extremely busy schedule and we communicate through email.  I generally have Calendar open in a tab all the time now anyway but a couple things are severely limiting (to me anyway)

  • Lack of printing options.  Agenda view doesn't work for me, I need to print a week view which I keep in my production book so I can plan things out when I don't have the computer on.
  • Mobile Device Sync.  If I could sync to my Windows Smartphone, a paper copy wouldn't be needed.

So far I love Live Calendar, but it could definitely stand to have some immediate improvements made before people will start adopting it in larger numbers.

So far I like it. but there's lots more that can be done with it. LOTS more.

I've posted some ideas here: http://jamiethomson.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!550F681DAD532637!2475.entry

I have just re-visited this thread... at least 8 months after the beta was pushed out... no changes to it, or any of the services Sad it's very sad.

I hate to compare them to Google (and it's just pointless comparing them to Yahoo!, since Yahoo! haven't even shown the world a calendar beta), but it's looking so painfully out of date already!

Very sad Sad

Windows Live Calendar still doesn't have notes... and to-dos are not syncronized with Windows Live Mail, only events... but a love the new interface!
