Personally I feel that the site looks more like something from the late 1990s than 2007.
The design could be improved by either narrowing or removing the thick blue lines and by changing the navigation at the top from tabs to a glass like bar that would also contain the search bar. This would not only make the site look more asthetically pleasing in my opinion but also make the site more like the new windows live design
I'm not a designer, and the Liveside team wanted something that was airy. This is the best I could come up with quickly. If you can provide a PNG or PSD with a layout, I'll create a theme on it.
Maybe, multiple themes from everyone who sends one in, and we have a poll to vote for the best. Or Vote then build. Either way
I like it, but hey I work here
Really looking forward to what we can to with Community Server 2007 more than just simple ui changes. We're just getting started.
Personally, I didn't like it and I prefer the old one.
So many advertisements and the way it looks is so old. It doesn't look professional and takes time to load.
the Forum uses large fonts and the upper "LiveSide Beta" banner is so HUGE! try to make it look good without so much scrolling.
Goodluck!

Right... guys, don't hate me - you know I'm a fan, I supported everything that you've done so far even from minus-figures, so much to say... I love you guys
So much so, I'm being as critical as possible from a website developer to make sure everything looks just lovely.
- Tags on the left - not confluent with the rest of the fonts - quite hard to see which tags are bigger than others to be honest.
- I like the new logo - very nice - could you make the character spacing a bit smaller though, so that there aren't practically spaces in-between each letter?
- The logo's at the bottom of the page need to be spaced out a little bit horizontally, and have a linebreak from the top of the coloured bar.
- The coloured bar that runs across the bottom of the page right to the right hand side where it meets the vertical line - looks dodgy.
- On the main page - the right hand pane - the RSS button is way too big - at least make it the size of the text to the right of it.
- On the main page - right at the bottom where it says "Who is Online" - way too big.
- The column where you have the Live Alerts and Feedburner buttons - it's just empty beneath it. Why the emptiness?
- May be loss in revenue - but remove the advertisement from below the Featured Article and then seperate it somehow from the content below.
- Think there should be a linebreak space between articles - without my glasses on, it gets all fuzzy and hard to tell when something new starts.
Think that's about it - Chris/Kip/Scott, ping me on Messenger if you wish me to clarify anything

From what I believe your talking about, that's a google advert

The Guy who made the logo didn't foresee that

Done

The gradient effect is being looked at.

Fixed

Don't understand where

Would be nice to do

Ok, need to know what you lot think of this. Which do you prefer, This nav or the current navigation.
Cheers for the comments guys. As has been said above, a large part of the move has been to CS2007, which has meant reskinning from scratch again. The forums is not really something we use much hence the lack of time preparing these.
We are looking to roll out an update tomorrow once we've had some more feedback so watch out for that.
More comments = more love.
PS: Yes we know the search needs work. I hate CS search!

I think that nav looks better, it would also suit the new windows live style (the more smaller style, which is on windows live spaces now) just with the live side logo instead of the live orb.
yup I like this new one, too Nick. Wheee are we having fun yet?
You know what my idea of fun is ;)
If enuf ppl say they want this, or another navigation bar, I'll put it in tomorrow
Certainly looks good to me :)
Having posted earlier on my opinion of the new site design, I have had a play about in Fireworks and come up with an design idea that takes inspiration from both 'Wave 2' of Windows Live and also the MSN 'January Effect'
I have uploaded the mockup and it can be seen at http://www.marksuth.co.uk/livesideidea.png
