you can also edit the url so that if live in the UK but still want LIVE.com just change the url from en-gb to en-us etc

site was down again.  then when it was back up it appear to have taken out the "@live" domain from the pick list...and all that remains now is "@hotmail" to sign up for....strange indeed!

BTW...anyone know if you can magically make your hotmail domain into a live domain without having to do all the nasty switching and linking of ID's....does not appear to be an option from what I can tell....fresh start or nothing....pity.

Thanks Chris...sorry...yeah...I hadnt seen the bottom of your post.  I guess I just wish they could have made it like "would you like to CONVERT your @hotmail to @live if  xxxxx@live.com is available?"...instead of having to create a whole new ID...last thing I need is another ID to keep track of :)  Wasn't quite what I was expecting...but glad they are opening it up.

It'd be nice if the Xbox/Zune teams opened up a way of manually migrating their data to new accounts.

I have a question!

Using TrueSwitch, when I migrate my old @hotmail.com stuff over to @live.com, will "everything" migrate?

Including my contacts, Live Spaces blog entries, QnA and MS Points, all of it?

I don't want to start off a new slate, I already built up a lot on the old one, and would hate to start over again. So will ALL my things migrate?

As far as I know, it's only contacts, mail, and calendar data. Things like Points, Xbox Live, etc. can't be transferred for security/privacy reasons.

quikboy, comments on livechronicles.spaces.live.com/.../cns!31AFDCD75FEE9899!498.entry#comment suggest that no, it will not.

Am i the only one that is getting an error message  when trying to get @live.com address, all i can seem to get is @live.co.uk. Also how do i get other domains like @live.it or @windowslive. Thanks

Can somebody just post a comment here when they've fixed the signup issues. I've filled in this form about 10 times now only to be hit with an error.

I'm sort of surprised how many people want to migrate. @hotmail.com is a classic; I'll get a new live.com one, but I'm not giving up my Hotmail one! :)

Although I guess @live.com is pretty cool just because it's so short & generic (that is to say, it must have been a pretty expensive domain).
