Microsoft launches Tafiti source code as a Windows Live Quickapp (Plus, a LiveSide giveaway)

Earlier today Microsoft made available the source code for tafiti.com as part of the Windows Live Quickapps series. For those of you interested in the quickapps you should definitely subscribe to the Windows Live Alerts for instant notification of any updates.

For those developers amongst you, Colin has reviewed the tafiti quickapp in more detail. Its well worth a read, especially if you haven't played with any of the quickapps yet.

I'd love a copy of Expression Studio, mainly for Expression Web; to leverage new technologies such as AJAX and Silverlight in my web projects.  

Anyhow, Microsoft is being very innovative lately.  Let's hope it continues!

Expression Studio is a suite of great products. I have been working on Expression Blend for a while now to make rich WPF based front-end for my applications. I'll love a copy of it.

Nice. After the holidays I want to check out the Tafiti source - lots of innovative ideas come to life on the site.  2008 is sure to be "the year of Silverlight and WPF."

My main desire for a Studio license would be a full licensed copy of Design.  Blend and Web are great too (used them both today), but Design is "the tool" for acquiring and creating detailed XAML assets.  Blend has a nice XAML toolbox, but Design is at a whole different level.  You can only install the demo on so many computers :-)

I got to use Design for several days in some recent training and miss it every day since.

p.s. Just a license code would be enough :-)

I've actually been thinking about picking up a copy of Expression Studio for a "two-headed" project that I've been working on for the last year or so.

When I was younger, I was in a few bands with some guys that grew up with and we documented quite a bit of the music scene in our city.  I've been working on making a web archive of all our show footage, live concerts, studio recordings, fliers, etc. for all the band members to access and share. We’re all still active in music, so we’ll also be using to work on current and future projects.

As for the other part of my project, my parents passed away a few years ago and left behind years of home videos and photographs. Similar to the music project above, I’ve been working on creating a web archive to share all of the media with my remaining family and friends.

Anyhow, Expression Studio would me accomplish this. Media would help me greatly, as I have close to 10,000 pieces of media to work with. Web and Design would help me create the front and back-end of the website. And finally, the Encoder could help me add a professional appearance to the videos.

It would be awesome to see some sort of Live Quickapp integrated with SharePoint. Should be a ton of response on, and would be a killer social network enhancement.

For the Expression Studio. I've been looking for a way to kick the Java boys' ass at our firm as they're always joking about SharePoint's slow ui. Guess they will be less smiling when they see a SilverLight enabled experience! Get that Java-boys! :p

I went to this MSDN event, Light up your web, couple of weeks ago, where the speaker featured some nice looking demo's. It really showed some great potential. Especially the aspect of the deisgner and programmer working together apart. I love it. :-)

I'll have to look into Tafiti again after I finish my last final tonight.

As to Expression:

I would love to have it for two reasons:

1.  Design is great for taking photoshop works and then adding vector graphics to them.  For example, with the trial I added some graphics to the door panels and hood of a car.   I could really use a copy of it to complement my copy of Photoshop.

2.  I am currently updating and designing a page on my college's website featuring my photos from around campus.  I'm currently doing it in the trial for Expression Web since I have no experience at all in Frontpage 2003.  Unfortunately, the trial I have for Expression Web will expire at the end of January.

While I am mostly a coder, I have found that products in the Expression Studio have made development much easier. From making Silverlight Videos to designing WPF apps. I would love to win this product.

One of those Expression Studio's deserves to be installed on my laptop because it will know that its user is passionate and effective about its purpose. And of course, it will help me embrace Silverlight and WPF ;)

Hey Guys,

Thank you so much for the great work you do on this website.  It is certainly a fantastic resource for me.  You've done a great job!

As to Expression Studio,

I would really like to obtain a copy of Expression Studio.  I recently have become more interested in Web design, so I think that having Expression Web would be a great help to me.  Also, I would like it for Design, which is much more functional than the software I currently use.  I think that Expression Studio would help upgrade the websites I am currently working on, including the site for one of my teachers.  

Anyhow, whether you pick me or not, I just wanted to say thank you for the great job you have done.

I really hate creating GUI by writing XML/XAML - I'm doing it in my work on our own GUI framework and it sucks major. So please pick me.

I'd love a copy of expression studio.

At the moment im using Adobe products for college projects and i must say they are the most complicated and featureless tools to use. I downloaded an expression studio trial which included web which is soo much better than DreamWeaver, i also used Design which was a little better than InDesign. I would love a copy so i can improve my grades! Thanks :D

I would love a copy of Expression Studio as I am teaching myself alot of coding lanaguges which is abit slow but hey that is what the Internet is there for, to get some advice.

I am soon to pull together a project that cronicles a family from their sailing and trading roots in Scotland to their influence on the monarchy of The Kingdom of Hawaii in the days of Kamehameha. It would be nice to add a learning curve and finally let go of the old rag-tag  suite of stick together programs and work with something seamless and up-to-date. It is getting harder to keep up on a fixed income working with non-profit projects. Help would be appreciated. Best of the holidays to you and yours, thanks for all you do.
