Important Update To My.Live.Com

My.Live.com just got an important update:

  • New Header, with links to Home, Hotmail, Spaces, Onecare and MSN. The Orb gives access to even more, just like on all other Windows Live sites
    MyLiveCom
  • Usability Improvements
A confirmation prompt to prevent accidental deletions of gadgets and feeds has been added, "Add Stuff" has been renamed to "Add Content" and the visibility of this link has been improved, "Edit" has been changed to "Customize" in the gadget chrome and there’s more space between the Customize link and the delete gadget "X" icon.
  • IE 8.0 and FireFox 3.0 Support
My.Live.com now supports the Beta for IE 8.0 and the final version of FF 3.0.
  • Add Content Directory Updates
Check out the Add Content directory for new feeds and gadgets. New items include the full line-up of content from Xbox.com, selections from Office Online, MSN Video, WeatherBug, and more!

Besides these there are bug and glitch fixes. The My.Live.com Team also created a My.Live.com Suggestions and Feedback forum on Microsoft.com Forums. A minor update is expected in the Fall and they are working on another project on which they will tell more in the coming months.

We’ll be on the look-out!

Looks good.  Was sort of expecting this to fall into the Live Search branding rather than the Windows Live branding, but it's all good :P Nice update.

So is this going to be the universal header? What happened to the Windows.com style header?

they have still a long way to go if you compare to netvibes.com ...

@Alber1690: the Windows.com and the windowslive.com style headers are part of the FTP mainly to *promote* the products and services.

the universal headers you're going to see next will be the Wave 3 header reported previously on LiveSide =)

It took them this long? Well at least they did something.

I'm amazed that you could still change the color of the Windows Live header bar to pink, black, green, icy white, and then of course blue (or ocean). Though it doesn't stick on any other Live site.

And why make the text long? Stuff to Content? Edit to Customize? It just takes up more space, and it's very unnecessary since it still means the same thing. Oh, and Windows Live Personalized Experience is a ridiculously long name.

It still can't compete with the likes of Netvibes though. That's what Microsoft should think about before making their site just a little bit better.
