Windows Live Photo Gallery gets new OEM partners, Sync integration, and more

Windows Live Photo Gallery from the Windows Live Essentials suite is getting some upgrades in the upcoming “Release Candidate” release too. Besides the many bug fixes (including the wlcomm.exe crash and 100% CPU usage bug ), we also found out from Brian Hall’s interview that Windows Live Sync (FolderShare) will come installed along with Windows Live Photo Gallery to sync your photo albums across multiple PCs, as long as you sign in with the same Windows Live ID on more than one computer: Perhaps more good news for Microsoft’s Windows Live push is that HP had recently signed up to include Windows

Todd Bishop, John Cook leave Seattle P-I to join Puget Sound Business Journal

Not really Windows Live news, per se, but Seattle P-I Technology reporter Todd Bishop has left the P-I to join the Puget Sound Business Journal, according to Twitter messages left by both him and fellow ex-P-I reporter John Cook.  Kind of stunning news, as Bishop has been a mainstay at the P-I, and is one of the best in the business when it comes to coverage of Microsoft.  Here’s his twitter message:

John Cook and I left P-I today, joined Puget Sound Business Journal. Exciting new adventure for me. Will still blog MSFT. More details soon.

Cook covered venture capital news for the P-I, and he and Bishop were a solid one-two punch in tech reporting, respected not only in Seattle but around the country and the tech world.  Of course they will still be continuing to report on tech, but this is a big blow for the P-I, and another indication that mainstream newspapers are in serious trouble.  LiveSide has enjoyed some much appreciated ink (and links) from Bishop, something we’re proud of, and we want to wish Bishop and Cook all the best in their new endeavors.

Wow, quite shocking news... Bishop has been with Seattle Pi since I've been following Microsoft.  This is a big blow to Seattle P-I.  Kind of similar to when Mary Jo Foley moved to zdnet.

Bishop is on nearly everyone's list (I don't really have a list though) and I read his stuff, so it is a sad day indeed for Seattle PI.

All wells, as long as I can still read his stuff...
