Windows Live Messenger: Sign-in Problems For Beta Users That Block A Group

This notice just got posted on Inside Windows Live Messenger (messengersays):

An issue has been discovered in the current Windows Live Messenger beta that may leave users unable to sign-in. Only a very small number of users may encounter this issue but wanted to proactively message this to the community.

To avoid the issue yourself, please DO NOT block a group and then leave the group. If you plan to leave a group, please unblock it first. Following this precaution will ensure that you will not be affected by this issue.

We are currently working hard to fix the problem and allow those customers who have been affected to once again sign-in to the Messenger beta.

Thank you for your time and for participating in the beta! We will post more information about this issue when it becomes available.

So, If you are using the Messenger beta take this to heart: if you want to leave a Group, make sure it isn’t blocked first!

Grrr....I'm not able to sign-in, and I have never joined a single messenger group......

Yep, got that error a while ago (81000451). I had learned about it the hard way before there was an official notice about it :(.

I had contacted Messenger Support, and the only work around is to use Messenger 8.5 :(.

I miss WLM 9 now.

i never joined a group either and I can't sign into WL 9 beta. This sucks! I am also getting a message that closes WL mail each time also. But at least with WL mail I can get into the program, read my messages and then if I click "ok" on the message and then it closes the program.

dions30, that is the exact same thing that is happening to me!!! The shutting down of WL Messenger & WL Mail!!!

I have many of my friends with this issue. They have only joined the groups I have created and none have left them. They also report having Windows Live Mail shutting down unexpectedly. Some have had to downgrade to the previous version of WL Messenger. This appears to be more than an isolated issue...and needs to be addressed very soon.

using Live ID, Name/Password, or OpenID
