Live Search Flags Malicious Websites With Warning Message

Live Search now has a feature that helps you spot compromised/malicious websites. If you click on a link in the search result and this website was compromised you will see the following appear beside that link:

LSmalicious

Huge pointer to use Live Search for your daily searches! Especially considering so many websites are getting exploited one way or another nowadays!  Even well known trusted sites aren’t always safe, this is also why Live Search Webmaster tools now also includes a feature to check your site for malicious links. Use it! And should your site ever get compromised: on the Live Search Webmaster Center blog, webmasters are provided with information on how to fix and secure their websites from future abuse.

In before "it is Microsoft's fault", "copied Google" and possibly a "buy Yahoo!".

Malicious software to my computer isn't my major concern because a patched OS is fairly immune. I do know why they do this, but I am more impressed with phishing filters. On that note, these things use blacklist-style-security, which is inherently flawed. They do reduce some risk for the unalert and the unpatched, but will never keep you completely safe. Still, I suppose it does add a layer of security, and since the search results are of a known quantity that Microsoft itself lists they could scan all of them to a point. Just don't become complacent.
