Microsoft’s Live Labs develops SeaDragon app for the iPhone

Hot on the heels of the Thumbtack Live Labs release, Microsoft’s incubation team down in Pioneer Square just released the first Microsoft app for the iPhone, SeaDragon Mobile.  From the AppStore:

FEATURES:
- View thousands of images over the air
- Quickly view massive gigapixel images
- Explore Photosynth collections in 2D, including your own
- Add your own PhotoZoom / Deep Zoom Composer content
- Subscribe to Deep Zoom RSS feeds
Released as a tech preview, Seadragon Mobile is designed to show off the 'what if?' of mobile user experiences. Expect more cool stuff from Live Labs in the future at http://livelabs.com.

Looks ver neat and interesting - a Microsoft application for the iPhone? Hopefully they will release Windows Live applications for Calendar, Mail and Messenger. Now, THAT would be useful :)

By the way, Kip, or anybody else: Microsoft said they would release the 'release candidates' of the Windows Live Essentials programs this week, it's the end of the week and they have not yet been released :/ Does anybody know why? Are they likely to release them on a Saturday or Sunday?

I'm very disappointed because I was really looking forward to the bug fixes and refinements in user interface and features.

I mean they did CONFIRM that it would be this week :/

Do you have any information on this please?

Yes, a spokesperson for Windows Live did say that the Essentials beta refresh would be out this (last) week, at the Life Without Walls event that Sunshine attended.  Life "happens", though, and not everything goes according to plan.  We've heard that things were delayed a bit, but unless you want to spend the weekend refreshing your browser, probably the best bet is to keep an eye on LiveSide ;).  Patience is a virtue!

Thanks Kip :)

I thought there may have been problems and the suite was delayed, but thank you for laying my concerns to rest :)

I now hope the update is worth it and I haven't just been excited for no reason :D

Here's to them being released soon!

SeaDragon is pretty neat, although a full Windows Live for iPhone would be great!

Well, looking forward to more Microsoft apps for my iPhone :).  Looking forward to the new release of Windows Live Essentials too!

This is a really great step forward for popularizing multi-resolution image formats and opening up a whole new vector in interface design. As a former member of the team you can read my take on where this is heading over at http://8ninths.com/?p=686

Hi, does any notice that Live Search rolls out search suggestion last night(I'm in china, so could be today)? It's pretty useful and there is a "turn on suggestion" checkbox in option page.
