Planned downtime? That's better than it crashing, for a change. :)

Why can't they schedule this type of thing for midnight to reduce the impact?  11AM?   Thats just lazy!

Will be nice to have new features though.

I hope that they remove the stupid ad that is taking up a quarter of the calendar space. It's a shame that I pay for an Windows Live Hotmail Plus account and I still see an ad in my calendar. Also I hope they enable the feature that is at the bottom of every calendar you check that sends you a daily email of your calendar agenda.Google was the original creator of it and Windows Live Calendar added to their calendar as well, but it never worked while in beta.

"'why can't they schedule this type of thing at midnight" - i like these statements but if they were to then 12am where? one persons midnight is another persons daylight or peak use *LOL* - someone will get disturbed and Microsoft like anyone will not prefer to work during the night.

I hoping fthat we get finally 'notes' (something that is in Outlook and old MSN hotmail that is not currently here. To Do is basically Outlook/MSN Hotmail Calendar tasks

Believe me I am sure the midnight Pacific time is the lightest load time... its 3AM on the East coast, 8AM in England...  11AM PST is not a good time for anyone... except maybe New Zealand and the Microsoft Calendar team strolling in at 9:30AM ;-P.

I hope that the new features involve a new Mobile client that allows calendar sync! :)

"'why can't they schedule this type of thing at midnight"

it is 3am midnight in China - where I believe some of the Calendar team are based in. I could be wrong though...

I have a hotmail premium account, and now when I go in my calendar I don't see banner advertising!!!!!!

Other news?

For none premium prespective there still advertising as I now have it (thanks partly to my DNS being opendns)

the most obvious thing when going to it is that the advertisement has moved to the discussed right sided 'tower' ad and looks like sp1der has no ads so having premium account you do not get ads on calendar.

removal of beta 'tag'

All three of my accounts are non-premium and I am not seeing ads in Windows Live Calendar anymore.

Noticeable changes include:

- Removal of ads

- Removal of "beta" tag

- Show more/Show less function (if you click "Show more", each cell displays all the events on that day, but this disables the scolling functionality in Month mode which allowed you to scroll to the next month)

- Allow users to add "Charms" or little icons to their events

- Reorganisation of the menu bar (particularly the "New" button)

- Header updated to have consistent links with other Wave 3 services
