Windows Live Photo Gallery Sync enabled for some

Today both the Windows Live Sync and the Windows Live Photos & Videos team blogs announced the news that the gallery sync feature in Windows Live Photo Gallery has been enabled for a limited number of people. Here’s the announcement:

The Windows Live Sync team has partnered up with Windows Live Photo Gallery to let you synchronize photos between two computers directly from Photo Gallery!

Windows Live Photo Gallery Sync

Although you always could synchronize photos manually on http://sync.live.com, setting Photo Gallery to do it is much more convenient. Launch Windows Live Photo Gallery on two computers and sign in on each using the same Windows Live ID. Next, on one of the two computers click Setup gallery sync… from the File Menu in Photo Gallery and follow the instructions. You’re on your way to synchronizing photos!

Gallery Sync

Another cool thing about synchronizing your photos with Sync is that your edit history is also synchronized! You can undo edits you've made to your photos and even revert back to the original photo from any of computers synchronizing with the gallery.

Keep in mind that the current Sync limits (20 synchronized folders containing up to 20,000 files each) still applies. Also if some of your folders in your gallery are already synchronized, you’ll need to visit the Sync website to modify your existing sync settings.

Has this feature been turned on for you? Leave a message here and let us know!

This is seposed to be the thing Live Mesh would handle.

What are they going to do? First impliment Live Sync in every Windows Live product, than scratch that and use Live Mesh for it ?

This is going the wrong way...

This has been available for a while now. I think they've just been limiting the number of users able to access it.

I experienced some kind of block a few months ago too, when trying to activate Live Sync through WLFoto Gallery. It mentioned something about not accepting any more users right now.

I then decided to sign in/on at the Live Sync website and register/activate Live Sync for my computer. I then returned to WLFoto Gallery and I was simply accepted into Live Sync through WLFoto Gallery, while it mentioned a few moments ago they weren't accepting any more users...

I thought it was pretty dumb, but I got over that.

Does that work for anyone who isn't one of the 'limited amount of users who are in on the beta'?

I only have two computers on Live Sync but it tells me I can't sync with more than two. A roadblock I can't resolve.

jbeaul - I was having the same problem and it was due to a corrupt Settings folder on one of the computers. I had to remove the computer from the Sync website and then manually delete the Settings folder. There is a thread on the microsoft.public.windows.live.sync newsgroup that has more information.
