Kumo home page

We’ve seen a number of screen shots of Kumo.com, but this is the first one we’ve seen of the home page:

kumohome

Note the pager at the bottom right.

We like this idea of deploying Kumo internally, so that MS employees who apparently don’t read LiveSide, and “didn’t get the memo” tantalize us with their tweets (where we found the screenshot).  Here’s a selection (names and links removed to protect the innocent):

What's kumo? http://www.kumo.com/ Why doesn't it work at all using Safari? Did I miss the memo about Live Search be renamed?

kumo.com rocks

did I miss a memo? since when http://search.live.com is redirected to www.kumo.com

I'm kinda digging how Kumo.com keeps my search history on the left side there. Pretty cool.

Never mind. Live.com only redirects to kumo.com if you're signed into the Microsoft Corporate network... Sorry...

But like our friend Kris Hoet said in Twitter, “kinda funny to see people make up their mind about Kumo based on 1 or 2 screenshots, seriously”.  Couldn’t agree more, Kris, we sure want to get our hands on more than just screenshots!

(BTW we’ve been collecting some of our favorite tweets and running them in our sidebar.  If you normally read LiveSide in a feed reader, you’re missing them they’re fun!  Luckily, you can subscribe to the feed of our favorite tweets in their own feed: we try to keep them clean (not always easy to do!))

Wow! I know this is similar to Live Search's current homepage, but with the new Kumo logo and interface, it looks very nice! The image they have used is perfect!

I really hope they go with this. To be honest, I'm starting to decide that the Kumo name is even fitting - the logo of it is very nice!

The font used for the text on the screenshot is very much the font I was getting before on my Live Search queries. Nice to see it will be implemented.

Hey Kip, I wrote a side by side comparison between Kumo and Live Search here http://is.gd/n9KE

They need to leave it as Live Search. Just make the Live Search symbol as big as Kumo and include the drop down menu. The pictures are beautiful. I feel Windows Live is wasting time on stuff that doesn't need to be messed with. There are far more other things to focus attention on such as web messenger in windows live mail. There is also much more attention needed on Windows Live Mobile software. And let's not forget about the plan toolbar and the non functional Movie Maker.

Ummm. Maybe I should start using twitter. It seems that Microsoft employees aren't very careful.

MSN search, Live search...Kumo search......why waste time and money on names.  Just make search the best and quit tying to be something else.

It should be a given that a name change of Live Search would be a major mistake on the part of Microsoft.

Name recognition in todays society plays a major role. Consider the fact that Google,Yahoo,Coke, and Chevrolet have been successful without changing the nameplates in the middle of brand marketing.

Many dollars have been spent in promotion of the Live Suite of Services to date, hence how can someone possibly consider using "Kumo" to allienate Search. This would very conceivably create a further meltdown of Search equating to the failure of Vista.
