Now if only the 'pictures of you' where in sync with the facebook 'pictures of you' ...

Not many people know that you can sync your facebook status with you windows live personal message. It would be nice to have a simple checkbox in webactivities now (instead of having to install the Windows Live Messenger Application in Facebook)

Although I appreciate Microsoft's efforts here, it's incredibly disappointing that they don't offically support integration with Google services (e.g. Google Reader Shared Items, YouTube). I do hope that's not something to do with them being such a major competitor.

This off topic.

Microsoft yesterday unveiled a new software+services application to beta testers in Seattle, Washington.

The software is a desktop client for Windows which allows you to post information to it via e-mail or SMS. The application gathers local news from 20,000 sources and displays it on a map. Like Twitter it allows you to post short updates named alerts. Vine will also integrate with Facebook and the short messaging service, Twitter, at a later date.

Microsoft's main emphasis for the application is marketing it to emergency management officials, who could use the new tool to broadcast and receive information during a disaster or other major event. According to The Seattle Times, Seattle is the first place Vine will be publicly available. The software giant plans to open the test up to other locations at a later date.

More information on Vine and how to sign up to the beta is available at the newly launched Vine site

am I the only one having problems with the last.fm web activity?

It asks for the last.fm username, it doesn't ask for any password, so when you click Add activity it displays a message asking to check login info for any mistakes

weird :\

@ProfessorAsian: You can turn off email notifications, and restrict who can invite you to their network, by setting your communication permissions settings at profile.live.com/Communication

@CKurt,

How do you sync Facebook Message with Windows Live Personal message?

@mcrobbiegt: Try adding  apps.facebook.com/windowslivemessenger to your Facebook, and tick the box that allows Windows Live personal status message to update your Facebook status message.

They also added shortcut links in the homepage, at the right column with shortcuts to upload file, write blog post, see recent comments, etc.

@damaster: The thing is, I did. Seems as if I am not the only one with this issue.

Thanks Damaster! - that worked...

... from the comments on the Windows Live Blog, it seems that there are issues with the Facebook Web Activity...

Does anyone else have this problem?

After following Damaster, my web messenger updates my Facebook summary but anything i do on Facebook is still not publishing on the Windows Live Profile.

Do you need to do more than just add the Facebook web activity?

@ProfessorAsian: It seems to have been fixed in this recent Profile update: jamiethomson.spaces.live.com/.../cns!550F681DAD532637!10509.entry  Is it still happening to you currently?

@mcrobbiegt: Yes, I had the problem too and it seems like you will need to set your Facebook privacy settings to "My Networks and Friends" or "Everyone" (only for the specific thing you want to share) before it will feed to Windows Live. Watch LiveSide for a post soon on how to do it.
