Microsoft Wave Launched

No, not Wave 4, we are still waiting for that, but Microsoft Wave.

Microsoft Wave is a new site from Microsoft’s UK team that shows off the latest developments and products to come out of Microsoft. You will come across technologies we’ve been covering here like Photosynth, Worldwide Telescope and Deepzoom, but also stuff that you haven’t seen here like project Natal and Microsoft Tag.

Need some help finding a new Windows device, be it desktop or mobile? There are selectors for both to be found on the site to help you! There is plenty to discover on Microsoft Wave, no matter where you are in the world! Don’t forget to check out the learning center, watch the videos and follow three of Microsoft's top bloggers, one of which is Steve Clayton, who, as you know, happens to be one of our favorite bloggers too.

Live Mesh Scenarios Directory

Chris’es Live Mesh tutorial, Synchronising browser favourites across devices, inspired the guys over at Redmond Pie to create a Live Mesh Scenarios Directory:

Our friends at LiveSide posted this very nice tutorial on how to synchronize your browser favorites using Live Mesh…

So here at Redmond Pie, we have decided to create a “Live Mesh Scenarios Directory” where we are going to upload step by step tutorials for all the different kind of scenarios where we could use Live Mesh effectively to simplify our lives.

The Live Mesh Scenarios Directory currently holds four tutorials (or Scenarios as they call ‘em), aiming for more in the future. Readers can also help out by sending in their tutorials, the tutorial will then be posted with credit to the author.

Now this doesn’t mean that you won’t see any more Live Mesh tutorials from us here, or that you can’t tip us on any scenario you might have. What this does tell is that the idea is liked very much, if not contagious, well done Chris!

Chris Pendleton let's us know about a new site for Virtual Earth's Bird Eye. Virtual Bird's Eye - A virtual bird's eye view of the world - Mapping the News, Interesting Places, Current Events and Unique Attractions.

Virtual Bird’s Eye has been put together from the ground up to bring links and sights from all over. Virtual for many reasons - on the web, in images and because you can’t be in all these places at the same time. Bird’s Eye for a few reasons - Bird, nickname for a satellite; Eye, like like the view of a flying bird. And for the common saying ‘Bird’s Eye View’.This site is going to try and bring you sights from many different avenues:

Provide links to current events and news

Provide links to interesting places

Provide links to user submitted areas

So along side the news you also get to see where it's at! Or you can go all touristy and watch Tourist Attractions, Ghost Towns, Presidential Homes etc..all in bird's eye (and Aerial) view or even in flyover like the 3D flyover tour of the Augusta Golf Course.

Each week they focus on a specific theme, like this week's theme is Major League Baseball locations around the country. Last week's was the PGA Tour Golf locations. If you are missing a location you can help them out and send them your link at the contact page.

Virtual Earth Site for Business Decision Makers

A few months ago the new Virtual Earth marketing site www.microsoft.com/virtualearth launched. This site is a great place for a business decision maker to read up on Virtual Earth. You will find News, Events, Case Studies and Product Sheets.

The News page is new and contains some of the latest development announcements and features blog posts from people in the Virtual Earth Product Group such as Chris Pendleton, Steve Lombardi and Jerry Skaw.

The Events page is the page where all Virtual Earth Events (Webcasts, Conferences) will be posted so you can learn more about how Virtual Earth can help your organization. You will also find a rotating "Featured Site" there, which showcases some unique implementations using Virtual Earth.
