Windows Lame Movie Maker...once lame always lame. Only for moms and grandmas to "confidently make" movies. F**k the rest of the power users by not offering ever a powerful video editing tool on Windows. Microsoft *does not get* digital media.

I'm surprised it's called a beta, when it really seems like an alpha.

I also dislike that the team is putting it's primary focus first on "normal humans" instead of people who actually have used WMM to it's fullest, and would love for more new functionality. Not less! As amateur as WMM is, I just love a nice easy-to-use video editor, packed full of functionality.

I also don't like this new Ribbon design. I really liked the Orb, and it at least connected the title bar with the main program, so that the QAT didn't look out of place. The new file menu system is ugly. Also, shouldn't there be an "Insert" tab to insert videos, photos, soundtrack, etc?

Oh, and being Vista only is not cool. But I'll try my best to give feedback from another friend's comp.

Two extra things to note from the post:

"We're not ready to share a lot of details, but I'll give you one hint: he old Movie Maker engine was 2D. Let's just say that the new engine is better than that."

"It's an earlier product version, compared with the rest of the Windows Live betas, so you'll probably see the beta tag stick around a while longer." - it seems likely that Movie Maker might carry the beta tag longer than the other ones in the suite.
