I found another issue with WL Hotmail the folder text size are so big that only the first 6 folder show up and they are not using the spaces around the area properly as they could decrease the size and increase the scroll bar for the 'folder list'

There is actually no way that would change your Hotmail interface from Wave 2 to Wave 3, sorry.

What must have happened is that you must have been upgraded to Wave 3 within the "few days" you waited.

The majority of users were upgraded to Wave 3 on 4th November, so you must have been one of them,

I managed to get hotmail wave 3. Here's how I did it:

In my 'old' hotmail, I set the theme to default. then I switched to the light version. A few days later, click on your messenger wave 3 taskbar icon and then click "E-mail inbox". It would not take you to your hotmail, but to msn.com. Now click on hotmail. You should see the hotmail wave 3 screen, click to not show it again if you want. Then click continue. Ta-da! You are now in hotmail wave 3. It's just a miracle for me.

I've wondered the same thing - yet so many people seemed to be having similar problems. I'd be willing to bet that half of the complaints on the WL Wire blog are from people still running win 95 or 98 or using IE5 or lower on a CRT that can't handle more than 800x600.

I've had zero problems, and really like it, but obviously there's always room for improvement (cJr had some good ones - plus, how about a "check mail" button??). My wife, who is one of those who hates change, especially in email, said the changes have had almost no affect on how she uses her email each day, so she's been happy so far, too...

Well I love the new Hotmail, but there are still plenty of things wrong with it (such as not being able to drag the folder list & make it wider anymore, not having an "x" when hovering over the Deleted & Junk folders, not being able to select different colours - only rubbish themes, the old message format bar when editing signature & vacation replies, etc).

It is still better than the Wave 1 & 2 Hotmail interfaces, but they could easily incorporate those vital things they have overlooked.

Also, I've now decided that the user picture on the web services of Wave 3 is way too small (a problem with the whole Wave 3 header) - it is tiny & you can't make out half the things you put in there.

@Whitetern yeah you don't have an icon anymore to automatically delete without viewing the folder it self

is it only me but i don;t get why so many people are complaining about the new version? especially on WL Wire blog....

are they complaining about too much whiteness?

their screen resolution is different so everything is squashed (i use 1024 x 768)

they are using something that is blocking WL Hotmail to load fully?

I just do not get it....

My account was upgraded today. It sure is faster than the previous version and now works perfectly with Firefox too.

Most useful feature I came across was the ability to search the emails although it sometimes take a bit longer to process.

Am i having a problem, or the Deleted emails now cannot be deleted without first going to the folder?

with the wave 3 in place, Home link isn't workig any more. Windows . loos like, we need to wait for the new windows live Home page.

Yes damaster, that was the other example I was thinking of - the automated vacation replies :D

It's ridiculous they can't implement this new text editing bar into the whole of Hotmail - I don't understand why they don't :S

As for the issue in Safari, that must just be a bug, hopefully they know about it.

I've not noticed any lack of colours (but then I didn't know you could have more than what is on the pallete anyway before). The amount of colours when composing a message is much more improved than the 'old' text edit bar currently in the Wave 3 hotmail (the bar on personal sugnature, for example)

Font wise , they look better on my home computer ..on FireFox and Chrome. though not as good as IE8.

but, the fonts sucked on my work computer ..on FF/Chrome.

In chrome , - i cant compose a message.i am not sure ..whether hotmail supports chrome yet. since i'm slowly ditching FF for chrome bcos of its speed.it will be good if they fix this.

overall ..hotmail wave3 feels good .

@cJr: Yup I understand what you mean - in places like editing your Signature or Automated Vacation Replies.

Talking about the "new" text editing bar, anyone noticed the new one actually allow you to have less colours that before? The original one allowed all colour ranges (any RGB/CMYK values), whereas the new one only allows the default "office 2007" colour templates.

Also it's weird that in Safari, the Signature and AutoVacation Replies text editing fields have no editing toolbar, but the Compose Email one does...

BTW another inconsistency is the format bar above the textareas!

In the "New Message" screen when writing a new email, it is very modern & updated (e.g. the 'emoticon' icon or the 'bold' icon, etc), whereas if you go to edit your signature (& other things which have the format toolbar above the text area) they have the old 'MSN Hotmail era' format toolbar.

If anybody understands what I mean?

This is a ridiculous inconsistency & I found all of these with 5 minutes of using the new Windows Live Hotmail as I would use it daily.

i have got my wlhotmail wave 3 today in my other accounts. and it looks neat.

its a breeze and feel very good to access wave3 on IE8.

and on my IE7 at work, its unresponsive many times if i click 2-3 messages fast .. bcos of the page top ads. and i had to kill my browser many times.

and hotmail fonts sucks on Firefox and chrome.

its only good on IE8.
