For the average user (probably not liveside readers) Sync makes lots of sense. Hopefully it will extend across the product range, so you won't even need to think about syncing favorites, photos, videos to SkyDrive etc. Looking forward to it.

I doubt Mesh will stay as a simple beta... I think in the future MS will probably unite WLSync and Skydrive into Mesh, as Mesh appears to be a more scalable and robust product... In the meantime, where can we find (or can someone state) the main differences & similarities between the current WLSync and Mesh products so that we can actually understand why MS has decided to take two different paths to what appears to be the same end goal?

Sync and Mesh uses the same technology behind them. However, Mesh is a technology preview (or beta), while Sync is an actual mature product, integrated into the Windows Live Essentials suite.

Think of Mesh as Microsoft showing off what they are capable of doing, and Sync is the end product for all consumers. As reported by us before, the technologies behind Live Mesh will gradually be used into Windows Live products in Wave 4.

Windows Live Sync is going Sync with sky drive and live mesh.And live mesh going two work with xbox 360 and the zune.

I won't use it. What's the point? I have SkyDrive as a big back-up and Live Mesh for data replication on various PCs.

Like OneCare, Foldershare should be cut: no business for them.

I dont really get why we need Mesh, Sync and SkyDrive. Aren't they all just versions of the same thing?
