What's the current timeline for Windows Live Essentials and the planned mid-December Hotmail release? It's officially "mid-December" today.

Windows Live Sync is there away sync up with skydrive or live mesh.Or is there away four sky drive two sync up with live mesh yet .Has any body have any ideas on how two do this.

Wes, the point about Live Mesh is that it is a platform, for which the first "demo application" is a file synchronisation service.

Given Mesh is still being developed, it makes sense that Skydrive the mature service still exists, but that in the future it would make sense to consolidate I agree.

I agree with lbastie about the video message live beta service. It is a nice service that should be pushed by Windows Live. It would be even better if it was combined with Windows Live Messenger. At this point of the beta stage of Windows Live messenger, I still can not do video and audio set up without getting an error. I hope it is resolved when messenger comes out of beta. BTW, like CalumJR ..I am still waiting on this Windows Live Essential Update that we were suppose to get this week. Today is Friday and we still haven't seen anything.

Why would anyone choose to use Live Sync over Live Mesh?

I really don't understand why Microsoft are pushing two products that can do the same task.

@jntowers: the difference between Live Sync and Live Mesh is that with Sync both computers need to be online at the same time. Live Mesh synchronizes through the cloud, so there is no need for that.

http://frameit.live.com is still using Wave 2 as well...

Anyways, do notice that Windows Live Sync is still named "Version 2008" - instead of 2009 like the other Essentials applications.

I think Jamie is right with his prediction about Windows Live Translator becoming part of Microsoft's search initiative.

If you look at this screenshot of the new partner build of Internet Explorer 8, it says "Translate with Live Search" instead of "Translate with Windows Live" (here is is the screenshot, from LiveSide's sister site, LiveSino: livesino.net/.../image.png).

Also, one site which wasn't mentioned in Jamie's post which still has the wave 2 design is Windows Live Personalised Experience (http://my.live.com).

another live site that so far is neglected is gallery.live.com which i like for the emoticons and gadgets (although it is no visit daily site).

"photo gallery gadget" as refered by Calum's Neowin source I hope might signal a wave 3 update to gallery (windows live gallery: gadgets, emoticons, winks , agents etc) unless they going back to gallery.microsoft.com again and losing the developer and user participation of gallery to particular Messenger (user emoticons)and vista users (sidebar gadgets)

Sunshine. Somebody on Neowin said that Microsoft Japan said that Windows Live Essentials is to be released on 16th Dec along with a Windows Live Photo Gadget? (here: www.neowin.net/.../index.php).

Is this true for the UK/US too do you know? I heard Essentials was coming out this week, but it's nearly the end of the week. I'm hoping for tonight/tomoro but it's looking unlikely :(
