Fair enough, but the description you posted above from the download page is pretty explanatory:

Install this update to continue using Windows Live Movie Maker Beta until 12/30/2009. The current version of Windows Live Movie Maker Beta will expire on 6/30/2009, and will stop functioning.

You're still one of our oldest friends ;). We plead guilty to taking a bit of a shot, but we found the upgrade, looked for an explanation, and found nothing. Our readers don't have the luxury of direct contact with Microsoft (nor many times, do we), and we try to reflect what it's like to experience the lack of communication that pervades the Windows Live organization. It's very frustrating.

Yesterday I was one of "LiveSide's oldest friends" and today this is posted without first asking me why I didn't mention it? :) You guys know where to find me!

The beta update is just to extend the expiration date of the beta. It expires at the end of this month. We didn't add it to the previous blog entry because we're blogging about it this coming week; we wanted it to be its own entry so the post about the future and the beta update each got their due.
