This statement is abit false:

This beta is available only to customers in the United States, United Kingdom, Israel (English only), People’s Republic of China (Simplified Chinese only) and Brazil (Brazilian Portuguese only).

Also you need a Microsoft Connect Account and Windows Live ID to download it currently from the Security Essentials Website www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

the only thing I see so far is that there is not backup integrated into it like in OneCare. That was a big plus IMO. :-(

Umm, what report are you looking at that showed it "almost the worst" ? When I look at the February and May reports, it's ranked very high (#2 on the May reports).

Sounds great.

Really interesting to see Microsoft's scanning engine to rank that high in the Retrospective/Proactive test, but on the On-demand Comparative test it's almost the worst. Everything together tho, including the very few false positives it seems a very decent scanner. Especially for free.

Eset NOD32 is still the only scanner ranking Advanced+ on all tests :)

I'm already using it and i love it. It runs smoothly, and does not waste lots of resources.

Easy to use, and has a nice interface.

I've been quite thoroughly pleased by my experience with OneCare. Oh well. :\

Free is certainly a plus. :)

If there's anything MS should be bundling with Windows, it's this. But regulators would cry foul, I imagine. :(

I liked the idea of offering a browser ballot box, though. There's room for bundling *and* choice. And yet, you don't want to stuff the system with too much, well, stuff....

I can't wait to download this next week. I am using AVG on Win7 and haven't had an issue, but if it's better and FREE, why not?
