I agree that the inconsitency is indeed maddening, and MSN is currently a mish-mash of UIs (though I think that might get better now). BUT, I think that MSN is the much stronger brand, and that, if anything, Windows Live should just be merged back into MSN. "Windows Live News" can be the Google News-style news aggregator; I'd stick with MSN/MSNBC for the homegrown content.

"it's confusing MS having two online services!"

But you see, technically MSN isn't a service, it's a content distribution channel and portal. ;)

I hate MSN. It is ugly now compared to the new Windows Live, espcially when they try and incorporate MSN Today into Live Messenger and Live Mail!

I think they should replace MSN with a service called Windows Live News (And call MSN Soapbox, 'Windows Live Videos' or 'Windows Live Soapbox') - What is wrong with that? Start using Windows Live for content and get rid of MSN alltogther? After all, MSN does nothing anymore only displays news stories and it's confusing MS having two online services!

If they're not going to do that, then the new user interface for MSN should be consistent with the user interface of Windows Live, then it won't look as ugly!!!

MSN is a strong brand and shouldn't just be left to die. Windows Live can be the online counterpart to Windows; MSN can be the separate web network. Windows Live is services, MSN is content. I guess.

Still, it's kinda confusing.

I yesterday postei a video mine in the SoapBox and so far is in processing. It has one 19 hours or more than it is processing a video of 4,7 MB, this is not acceptable. Now in the Youtube, I find that it delayed one 30 or 40 minutes to make the Uploade and the video to be accessible. If SoapBox MSN not to improve, goes to be mai a service that the Microsoft goes to be in second or third, because until the Google Videos it is better that the SoapBox.
