YouTube can't get away with it. Hence the $1 billion Viacom lawsuit (http://www.reuters.com/article/internetNews/idUSWEN535120070313) and the fact that, as mentioned in the story, they'll soon be implementing the same technology. But I agree, it's sort of sad.

I hope Microsoft and Google get more content providers onboard so this kind of content can still be hosted, if only by the copyright holders.

Hopefully the legal music videos on MSN Video will make up for that over time as they bulk up on additional content.

I think this is kind of sad. I remember seeing several "Complicated" videos from Avril Lavigne the other day, and today, they're all gone. That doesn't seem right to me. Plus I upload "Everything" from Alanis Morisette, and they didn't allow it on Soapbox because of "Copyright laws". That's not fair at all. If YouTube can get away with this, then why can't Soapbox? YouTube's popularity comes from having tons of interesting content on their site, which includes music videos. If Soapbox takes away this, their popularity will go do a whole lot. Even though Soapbox is better than YouTube in tons of ways, this is a thing that could cripple it. Sigh. Hopefully this won't be too bad.

Perhaps the Soapbox team updated their posting after entry was posted, but it is mentioned on their entry:
