Yeah I wonderd that at the time of that email, and thought they would post something within a couple of weeks, but nothing happend, and still nothing now, so yeah it does make me wonder. ;)

Also, their team blog said nothing about stopping development on the application, its still left in limbo. Again not the response I would have expected.

Yup I got that email too, though that wasn't the end of the story from what we heard. Seemed a bit of a weird ending to me :)
