MSN/Windows Live Messenger users are on the same underlying network, client usage does not matter.

Microsoft may not be the best software company out there (in fact is seriously needs some fresh blood), but at least it's not run by the devil. Microsoft is always looking to do good things, and you can't argue with the charity work they do.

Does the graph show users joining the Messenger network, or users changing from MSN to Windows Live Messenger?

It's not a surprise people are interested in this one. If they did a TV ad, they probably could get even more people to do this. I would have to agree that this is one of their more successful ventures.

The graph kind of looks weird. Shouldn't the x-axis be labeled with the time periods, and the y-axis be labeled with # of users? The wording and orientation makes it look quite weird. And why are the dates inverted with oldest being at the bottom, and newest at the top?

I think they need to rework that graph. It looks kind of kooky.
