Microsoft should only release alternatives to Google products if the Windows Live product is superior. Windows Live News does, at least at this point, not seem to be as capable as Google News.

I like the new one too, but it would nice to have an RSS feed or Live Alert options.

@VasiS : Live Image search is the same. For me that is.

But why is Live Image search changed!? what happened to the old single page, cool image mouse-hover site!?? That looked unique and fun to use, the current live image search page is dumb

I noticed this yesterday when I was searching for a news article and found the nicely designed (which was massively needed) news results page. Now if they could only have something that could make me unsubscribe from Google Alerts, which I subscribed way before this whole Google vs. Microsoft really started.
