Speaking of which, any other comments/feedback for stuff you want integrated/left out are welcome here or via email (can send to any of the aliases or just direct to one of us).

As with our last upgrade, I'd imagine we'll do a transition period and work on things as feedback comes in, but always help to get ideas upfront!

Truthfully even with our added bandwidth Silverlight Streaming (or Soapbox, or YouTube, etc) still makes a lot of sense. One popular video could snarf up a lot of bandwidth. Nice to have the option, though :)

And looks like I'll have to get to the Windows Server admin quick once we get the box - not sure how much playing with Windows Server 2008 we want Nick to do ;) (just kidding, Nick!)

Yeah I'm inclined to go with Silverlight, a) because you can use SLS to actually host the videos and b) because once the Silverlight mobile version is out, they'll be viewable on mobile devices. Obviously the install base is a lot lower at the moment but for our readers I don't think that should be a problem.

Welcome some other thoughts though (as always).

@Scott: I have 2008 Enterprise here at home, but I haven't played with it since I installed it ages ago.

Depending on the video, it'll either be Windows Media Player, silverlight video player, or flash player. The prob with flash player is that video content needs to be in flash video format for it to work. With silverlight it can be in any Windows Media Video format

That's great to hear. If you are going to host your own videos, use a flash player so there are less problems and because all OSs are supported.

As an inheritee of a 1and1 contract, I can't fathom how anyone would actually voluntarily sign up with them. Good luck.
