Sidebar gadget useless for me and I guess everyone else that owns a TV card - it defaults to the TV card for video in and offers no way to select the other available input i.e. my LifeCam.

So I can't send any video messages apart from a static screen of blue.

Okay, messed around with it a bit now, three/four messages. It's okay.

Why LifeCam/Sidebar/Vista gadget operability only? Limits adoption significantly. Yes, can go to the website, send message to anyone, but it's an extra step. If it gets integrated into Messenger, it would enjoy **HUGE** adoption, I'd guarantee it. Otherwise it's only so-so and will probably be dropped by MS like they dropped the WLMessenger handsets/Live Favourites/etc.

Nice concept, bad on the follow-through.

@stoneford, I get a error message accessing the site. It goes in, shows I'm logged in, then errors out. Odd.

Now...will this be intergrated with Live Messenger 9? Inquiring minds want to know!

videomessages.live.com/.../default.aspx is een portal. You can probably sign-in over there. A sidebar gadget is not required to create a new video message

Rocks like hell! I've an old lifecam. Installed the software, in minutes I was up and running and created a first video message from the sidebar. No crashes, even de sites behind are fully operational!

variaas - the gadget requires lifecam software 2.0, the actual service itself doesn't (but that isn't up to the public yet)
