Is Kevin being optimistic or is there enough available already to warrant this description?
Live ID and Messenger integration are the main strong points that make people use Spaces in the first place. There are millions of people with a Live ID and loads of these use Messenger so it makes sense to have more integration to get more users and get these users to actually use Spaces more than once. Using Live ID means that users should be able to have easy access to their friends anyway, if they expanded the Friends List and made it so you could do more with the people on your list than just sending messages then surely people would choose Spaces as the "easier" (to get and use) option over MySpace or Facebook.

Calendar and Live Maps integration would make a great Events service that could also benefit if there was a Calendar desktop program as more integration normally means more users (who at least try the services).

However there is still a huge component missing: music. MySpace is the main place on the internet for bands to show their stuff and pick up a following of users. The closest thing that Spaces has are music lists, which are pretty pathetic really. It needs something similar to MySpace Music where bands can signup and upload their music etc.

Also, if anyone wants to read more about "wave 2" (including the implications for WLMessenger) then I wrote a quite detailed news post about it a while ago on Messenger Stuff: http://www.msgstuff.com/news/post/309/

Live Spaces is a great place for casual blogging, but not for social networking.

Until there's a way to meet up with my high school friends, or view things going on around this area of my city, then Live Spaces will continue to 'not' be a social network, and will continue not to be popular as a so-called social networking service.

I'm really hoping that they'll revamp MSN Groups (big time), and integrate it into Live Spaces, as Windows Live Groups.

And then add an option for hooking up to a school network like Facebook-style.

If anything, that's what they should consider.

Plus there needs to be more advertising for their services.

Also, with regards to ordering lists. When you wait over two years for a must have feature, you'd expect them to give you a great solution or even an adequate solution, not a piss poor one.
