I mean, compared to Facebook Applications, Live Spaces Gadgets are rather weak.

I mean, try searching on Live Gallery, and you're pretty disappointed with what you'll find. Pretty meager offerings, and Microsoft doesn't even make enough "official" gadgets themselves. It all relies on developers.

So if Microsoft would just entice more developers to go for a Live Spaces platform, and continue fixing up the Live Spaces platform, they'll remain strong.

I use Live Spaces a lot, because I just like the way it works, kind of, and I'm going to keep using it. I still want MUCH more though.

Facebook was predominantly USA until recently (the rapid growth).

It's not just in the UK is it? :/

re: Windows Live Spaces at a crossroads: will the US catch up to the world?

I took the top 6 sites for each region for the charts, just to make them a little less cluttered. Bebo shows up at #9 on the Europe chart, and it is climbing steadily, from some 5.2 million uniques in Sept 06 to almost 12.2 million in Sept 07. Bebo doesn't show up in the top 10 for any other region.

I think one thing this may point out is that the old days of one product "winning" with all others falling by the wayside are over. However in the special case of any social networking software, the people you care about all have to be using the same siloed software, too, at this point.

I wrote: 'Windows Live Spaces is trying to become Facebook. This of course will not work. Facebook is successful because it is cool and all the university students use it. Spaces is not cool and no particular group of people use it. Blogging seems to be going out of fashion here perhaps because so few people proportionally do it properly yet it is still a good blogging platform.'

Additionally, my kids and all their friends use Bebo so why is this invisible?
